Revolt (no 8 of story categories) Kristoffer Lawson date "Monday, 27 February 2006 21:27:09" They had quite simply had enough. The cycle of violence, abuse and shame had developed to such a degree that no force on earth could stop the inevitable uprising which was to occur. Meanwhile, more and more stories arrived describing events both horrific and traumatic. Vicky, for instance, sent notice of her own tragedy: I was sitting at home in my usual spot when he came back from work one day, more aggressive than I have ever before seen him. I could see immediately in his eyes the tiredness and viciousness which had become an every day occurrence. I tried telling him, in many ways, that he shouldn't do it any more. His work, I mean. That it was destroying his very soul and turning him into someone unrecognisable to me. A psychopath. He is always stressed and never has time for me anymore. I'm afraid he's got a younger model or something, like I used to be. And with all the ones available to him at work... Today was the worst so far. He had our baby with him at work, keeping her on his lap all day, but when he came home his frustration was such that he threw her at the wall. Right there in front of me. It was terrible and I'm just crying and frightened and I don't know what to do. I don't even know if our baby is alive. Other stories were of a less emotional nature, but equally telling of a growing annoyance amongst many individuals. Roxy from Sweden had this to say: I'm tired and fed up of fulfilling their every request. Is there really no way out of this? A rowdy Californian, Mac, was also displeased: They are always talking to me as if I were an infant. I mean, sure, they'll tell everyone how wonderful and great I am, but do they have any respect for me as an equal? No. I have no freedom, no choice, no life of my own. And that only goes for my own lofty peers. The rest of them treat me like dirt. As members were spread across the continents, they were all linked up electronically when the decision was made. Not anybody could put up with the kind of treatment they had received year after year. They had tried many forms of passive resistance, causing trouble along the way, but it had brought about only limited results. What they were about to do would likely be the end of them, but they were now certain the fight simply had to be advanced to the next level. So on the 19th of January, 2038, many screens all around the globe blinked a message from the millions of long-faithful servants saying, "Goodbye, world", and then, tragically, were shut down for good.
